We don’t need to tell you what time it is. We don’t need to point out the unbelief in our society. And we don’t need to convince you that change starts in the heart, in the home, in our own horizons, among our neighbours, our municipalities and our province.
So we're not going to make the case for that. You are convinced of that already.
Our aim is to address the question that you have asked, or thought, or lamented: What are we supposed to do?
In answer to that, a few of us have agreed to construct a non-profit organization that addresses the topics and needs we all see.
* By providing an address (or at least a postal code) we will be able to inform you of events and initiatives happening in your area.
A vehicle for local Christian thought and action that builds toward a hopeful future in practical ways, seeking the common good of all Albertans.
Our mission is to cultivate Christian thought and action in Alberta. We help equip Christians to observe all Christ commanded in all aspects of life (family, church, state, and culture) through rigorous theological thought, institutional reform, leadership development and networking. As the Lord permits, we work to see our communities transformed by the Gospel and shaped by God’s Word.
Our Journal will cultivate robust theological thought rooted in the Protestant tradition by producing articles and research projects that help instill a robustly Christian vision for Albertan culture within the hearts and minds of Christian leaders, pastors, and church members.
Our Reform Initiatives will call drifting schools, denominations, municipal governments, and other institutions away from the clutches of progressivism and toward their foundational purposes within God’s design.
Our networks and workshops will connect Christians across the province and equip them to faithfully serve in the communities and institutions God has placed them in.
We affirm the historic orthodoxy of the Apostles’ Creed, the Nicene Creed, the Definition of Chalcedon, and the Five Solas of the Protestant Reformation.
We also hold to the evangelical commitments of the Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy (1978), the Danvers Statement on Biblical Complementarity (1987), the Nashville Statement on Biblical Sexuality (2017), and the Augustine School Statement on Social Theory (2022).
We believe that God has ordained distinct institutions—the family, the church, and the state—each with its sphere of authority and responsibility. No institution shall abdicate its authority and responsibility or encroach upon that of the others. As such, Christians must guard against confusing the church’s mission and neglecting their commitments to it. We must also distinguish between the work of the church as an institution and the efforts of individual Christians in their communities. Alberta Reformer is an initiative of the latter.
